OUR STORY

River Grove Goldens

My love for Golden Retrievers all started as a young girl with my childhood dog, Jazzy. She was a field-bred red Golden, and a very smart girl! Fast forward to my adult years and the thought of owning my own Goldens was still a dream.

One day that dream came true for me when we purchased Ena. We now own our male, Sampson. Together, they are making my childhood dreams come true!

The Spring of 2022 we added Teagan to our crew- and when the day comes that she passes health testing- she will also become part of our breeding program.

My goal is to breed exceptional family dogs with excellent health and sweet temperaments. Our Goldens are "field-bred" types, meaning a few things.

1. Field bred Goldens are athletes. They're smaller and slimmer, and have body types that help them run, jump and swim.

2. Their heads are usually more tapered, or "wedge-shaped" instead of the blocky heads of the English Creams.

3. Typically, they have more energy than show Golden Retrievers. Since field Goldens are bred to hunt, they have tons of energy.

4. Field bred Golden's coats are usually shorter than confirmation Goldens. Because they have shorter coats, they have less volume of fur to shed- so it may feel like they shed less.

My goal as a hobby breeder is to produce puppies that are excellent dual purpose dogs- family companions and adventurers! Our puppies and dogs are raised on a large farm where they have access to river frontage, forest trails and even some barn cats and chickens. They will have lots of new experiences before going to their new homes!

Our puppies are all raised with ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and ESI (Early Sensory Introduction) as well as Puppy Culture curriculum.
